Google Maps 2.0 with My Location (beta)!

Google maps 2.0 is the most recent version of Google Maps for Mobile for Symbian os S60 3rd edition smartphones , the first thing I did noticed when I was installing it on my nokia n80 and n95 and my Friendâ€™s e61i is that is not a java application what i was downloading and installing is a .SISx application . The Second thing is the new my location feature that kind-of shows â€œYou Are Hereâ€ your current location by using cell tower ID information to tell mobile phone users where they are and what destinations are nearby .Your location may not be exact, but it should be pretty close.. I guess this is very good for people who do not have a GPS in there handsets .
In addition to My Location, Google Maps 2.0 also offers real-time traffic information, detailed search and directions, and integration with many internal and some external GPS accessories. The application really rocks and I think like google earth its important for lots of people

The Service Provider (SP) Lock
The Service Provider (SP) Lock menu is used to lock the cell phone to the SP's SIM card. Once the cell phone is locked to a specific operator, if one inserts a SIM card from a different operator the phone will refuse to accept it! The cell phone will however accept another SIM car from the same operator.
To activate/deactivate this lock one needs a special secret code that is not available to the end user.

Here is how to activate the menu:
<**< Lock to Network? if pressing yes you have 5 attempts to enter NCK.
<**<< Lock to Network subset? if pressing yes you have 5 attempts to enter NSCK.
Warning: Your phone can be locked to a service provider FOREVER by doing this! If an invalid code is entered all five times, the menu will exit and be deactivated! Any further attempt to activate the NCK/NSCK lock Menu will result in the response "Not allowed"! However the NCK/NSCK lock can be recover through a direct clearing in the EEPROM.

Shortcut for Last Dialed call menu
If you for some reason don't want to enter the 'Last Dialed calls menu' by using the 'YES' key you can use the following key
stroke instead: First '0' then '#'.

Message Report

Having a hard time finding something online? Does it seem like you type in your search term but don't get anywhere near what you're looking for?
Well, here's a couple tricks that seem (almost) universal between search engines.
Let's say you're looking for sports cars and all you're getting is information on baseball and football (sports). What can you do? Try some of the following:
1. Try:
sports +cars
Most search engines will interpret this as meaning you only want results that have both the word "sports" and "cars" in them. Some search engines let you us the word "and" to do this as well (i.e. sports and cars).
2. You can also try to exclude terms. Let's say you still aren't getting what you want with sports cars (you still keep getting baseball info). Try something like:
sports +cars -baseball
The "-" sign tells most search engines to exclude results that have whatever word it is that has the "-" in front of it. (Don't put a space between the - and the word to be excluded though!)
3. If the above seems too confusing, most search engines have an "advanced search" option that gives you a web-style way to help you accomplish the same thing. Instead of using "+ / -" they use drop down boxes and option buttons. It is usually easier to search this way, although it's probably faster to use steps 1 & 2.
4. The next thing you might try is being more specific. Instead of just sports cars, maybe use exotic sports cars. Try different combinations of search terms until you get what you're after. (Careful with that word "exotic" though!)
5. Also, you may want to try using quotes. If you type in:
"sports cars"
You should only get results that match that exact phrase in that exact order. Sometimes that can narrow things down considerably.

But sometimes iTunes doesn't get it right. Maybe it doesn't know which track you're ripping. Maybe the iTunes Store doesn't have cover art for that particular album. Or maybe iTunes doesn't guess right and downloads the wrong cover art for that particular track.
Whatever the reason, you're likely to end up with more than a few tracks in your iTunes library that don't have the right cover art. It also means that when you play that track on your iPod, the cover art will be wrong or missing.
Fortunately, there are a few different ways to add or change the cover art for tracks in your iTunes library. Perhaps the easiest method is to display the Artwork pane in the iTunes software, by selecting View > Show Artwork. All you have to do is select the track with the missing cover art, find the cover art on another website, and then use your mouse to drag and drop the artwork from that website into the artwork pane. The iTunes software then adds that artwork to the selected track.
If you have more than one track or an entire album with missing art, there's another method you can use. Select the tracks in the iTunes library; then select File > Get Info. When the Get Info dialog box appears, select the Artwork tab. You can use the drag-and-drop method to copy artwork from another website, or click the Add button to browse your hard disk for the replacement art file.
All of which begs the related question, where do you find album cover artwork? The best place to search is Amazon.com, which has artwork for the millions of CDs it sells online. Next best is to do a Google Image search; Google does a good job of finding just about anything. When you locate the artwork, save it to your hard disk, or copy and paste it into iTunes.

To do the WAP hack (which is running your internet through a proxy) you will need to do this:

Access the service menu as shown above
Download BitPim. BitPim is a program that will be able to show all the files in the directory on your phone and it can add or take files, calendar, contacts, and other things of the such.
After you have conected your phone and BitPim (either through a bluetooth connection or a USB connection) you will go to the view menu in Bitpim and select view file system.
Your file system of your phone will show up on the side bar select it and
"save as" a copy of the fileDB in the /browser/setting folder (and an extra one for back-up purposes).
Then download a hex editor (if your using a mac I recommend OxED). Open that file with the hex editor and go to C9F where you'll change the number 30 to 31 (make sure to change the way the values are imported from insert to overwrite because if you don't you'll keep coming up with a couple of extra unwanted values).
Then you'll replace that fileDB with the one in BitPim and to do that all you'll need to do is to drag the new one over top of the old one and it will automatically replace it.
Next, go to the service menu again and go to WAP settings and then go on to filling out the proxy server and port information the username and password can stay the same.

To access to the menu in your phone without having a card inside do the following: type **04*0000*0000*0000# When display say "Wrong Pin" press NO and you have access to the all menus: Info, Access, Settings, Calculator, Clock, Keylock On?, Mail, Phone book. NOTE if you try this on your phone may stop at Keylock On? menu and youÂ´ll have to take your battery out to turn the phone on again. And this will not care about Phone lock !

Create Smart Playlists in iphone

believe it or not, not all users know how to create music playlists in iTunes. A playlist is, of course, a collection of tracks that you've grouped together for a particular reason. You can listen to playlists within iTunes or on your iPod, and you can use playlists to determine which songs are copied to your iPod or burned to CD.
To create a standard playlist, all you have to do is select File > New Playlist to create a new "untitled playlist" item in the Playlists section of the Source pane. Double-click this item and enter a title for the playlist; then select Music in the Library section of the Source pane. Select the songs you want to add to the playlist, and then drag them onto the name of the playlist in the Source pane. VoilÃ ! You now have a playlist of the songs you selected.
Even easier is a Smart Playlist, which automatically creates a playlist based on criteria you select. For example, you might want to create a playlist of your favorite soul singers, or music released in a given year, or even dance tracks at a specific tempo. All you have to do is define the rules, and iTunes will find the matching tracks and use them to create a new playlist.
To create a Smart Playlist, select File > New Smart Playlist. When the Smart Playlist dialog box appears, define a new rule that follows the form field > matches > keyword. Pull down the first list box to define the field (Album, Artist, Genre, and so on); pull down the second list box to define the match (contains, does not contain, starts with, ends with, and so forth); then enter one or more keywords into the final text box. For example, to include all songs by Frank Sinatra, select Artist > contains > Frank Sinatra.
To define another rule for this playlist, click the + button next to the first rule. This displays another set of selection controls. Repeat the steps just above to add the new rule, and then repeat the entire procedure to add even more rules for this playlist.
When you're done defining the criteria for your Smart Playlist, select whether you want songs to match Any or All of the rules you just created. To limit the size of the playlist, check the Limit To option and enter the number of items desired. And to keep this playlist updated when you add new items to your music library, check the Live Updating option. Click OK when done.
iTunes will now search your music library for items that match the rules you've defined and then create the new playlist. (The playlist is initially labeled "untitled playlist," so you'll need to select it in the Source pane and give it a proper name.)

How to set up custom wallpapers on the LG KU990 Viewty

Customise the LG KU990 Viewty with your own images on the home screen, start up screen and shut down screens

The LG KU990 Viewty may be limited in terms of installing third-party themes but it's still easy to customise with your own backgrounds - 'or wallpapers' - on many of the key screens.

You can either edit existing images on your Viewty to fit the screen - or you can create them yourself so they fit exactly and then transfer them across to the handset by Bluetooth or the USB cable.

The ideal size and shape for the Viewty is a portrait image, measuring 240 by 400 pixels.

To set the image as a default screen - and one that will appear instead of any theme you have selected - follow these instructions:

Unlock the Viewty and click on the shortcut icon with four dots at the bottom left of the screen
Click on the Settings icon - it looks like a mechanical cog - in the vertical tab bar on the right of the screen
In the Settings menu click on the Screen icon
In the Screen menu click on Main screen theme
Select the screen you want to customise. The Home screen is the one that appears underneath the main menu grid. Start up/Shut down appear when you turn the Viewty on and off. Outgoing call appears as a smaller image when you make - surprise - an outgoing call
If you are choosing a Home screen wallpaper you will be prompted whether you want to use a theme or a picture. Select Use picture and click on the OK button
In the My stuff menu choose where you want to source the image from - My images or My memory card - and click on the Select button
Click on the image you want as a wallpaper. If the image isn't an exact fit you will be prompted to enlarge or reduce the image to fit the screen. You can also use your finger to move the image around. Click on Set when you are satisfied
Voila! You have a new, customised wallpaper on your LG KU990 Viewty
